Collaborations

The center continues to develop its strong community partnerships that provide linkages for participants. These organizations offer services for many of the challenges faced by the center’s residents including health care, education, mental health, day care, job training and placement, substance abuse and domestic violence. In order to provide comprehensive services to participants, as referrals to community based organizations are an integral part of our family support services and aftercare program, the center works closely with the following organizations:

Catholic Charities Community of Caring Consortium – job training, computer skills, literacy and GED classes

• CRADLE in Bedford Stuyvesant Systems of Care Project - sharing of information for local organizations

• Cornell Cooperative Extension NYC – health and nutrition workshops
• Homeless Services United - housing assistance resources
• Brooklyn Perinatal Network – services with a focus on decreasing infant mortality
• Excellence Baby Academy – parent and play groups, developmental work for parents with young children
• STRIVE - job readiness workshops, job development, and career advancement programs
•Center for the Elimination of Domestic Violence - domestic violence workshops and services
• Zeta Phi Beta Sorority – workshops on a variety of topics including budgeting and stress management
• Literacy, Inc. – workshops on the importance of reading to children
• New York City Department of Education – follow-up for school-aged children
• Department for the Aging – New York City Foster Care Grandparent Program
• Brooklyn Hospital Medical Center – mobile health and mobile dental vans on-site monthly
